has anyone tried acupuncture to control appetite and lose weight? it works?
I do not use unhealthy appetite suppression pills … I exercise and try to eat well and can not lose weight! Help !!!!!!!!!
I am a student of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. I posed the question of weight loss at one of my instructors and here (very roughly paraphrased) is what he said, acupuncture is not, in itself, loss of weight. In other words, there is no way to magically melt off weight. However, acupuncture can calm the nerves (from stress, etc.) that can be triggers for overeating. In addition, relaxed people better digest food – which may mean that the patient will not feel the urge to eat too much (the body knows now that he has enough) – and produce hormones lower stress (eg cortisol) that contribute to weight gain. We can also stimulate digestion (see above) and help the lymphatic initiative to improve drainage of fluids, reducing the weight of water retention. In addition, if someone has a eating disorder dependence, standard "protocols dependency "could reduce this need as well – but treatment should be fairly frequent (daily initially, then reducing over time) and psychological problems that lead to addiction in the first place would still need to be addressed. Ultimately, acupuncture may help, but it is not magic. Good nutrition and regular exercise would still need to be much (most, actually) of the plan. Hope that helps.
